Lifeless blog

After much thought and deliberation, I have decided that I shall no longer be updating here.

This is mostly due to my dwindling interest in what this blog is essentially meant to be about. Well, I do still like fashion, but I just have no interest in blogging about fashion adventures etc. I’m going to hopefully turn the coral stars blog into a craft type blog, which may well feature some fashion related posts, but fashion dummy will be no more.

Well actually that depends - if anyone wants to take the reins of the blog, I’m more than willing to let you, just email me and it’s all yours.

I’ve have enjoyed blogging for the past year on here. Hopefully my ramblings haven’t been to irritating! Anyhoo, farewell dear readers..

Bye bye (for now)

This is just to let you all know that I am taking a temporary break from blogging on here. Life is throwing far to many balls in my direction at the moment.

I don’t quite know how long I’m going to be away, but if anyone wishes to take over the steering wheel for the blog for a bit, please just let me know and you’re welcome to fill me spot. TTFN my dear readers. Remember to keep the fashion alive!

F.D. style sense makes a comeback

A long overdue post. In fact I wrote it last week but I never got round to taking photos and then posting it. I haven’t bothered with the photos, but you can see what I was thinking last week. Obviously, what I wrote in the end has not taken much effect.

I feel rather pleased today. Why? Because for the first time in AGES, I went shopping AND actually managed to buy some new clothes! I thought I’d lost all of my style sense for a while, but it seems that it is far tougher than I believed.

The most success I had was when we ventured down to the Big Yellow Vintage Shop - which I think most either love, hate or aren’t too fussed by (personally I love it). I hadn’t been there in a while, so I dragged my friend down (kicking and screaming… well, not quite, she didn’t mind). The people in there seem quite nice - the lady complimented me on a skirt I picked out (£6) and the man was telling me about the bags (it apparently takes very little for me to think people are pleasant) which was helpful seeing as I was looking for a bag (£8 - yes, I probably could’ve gone to a charity shop and bought one for £2.50, but that is beside the point).

All in all, a successful trip for me. And it’ll be beneficial for readers here because it’s given me some renewed fashion inspiration which may equal better posts.

Things I haven’t done in a while

  • Looked at Foto Decadent
  • Randomly browsed different blogs
  • Done a diy project (sewing, knitting etc)
  • Bought & read a magazine
  • Had a haircut
  • Purchased an item of clothing/accessory/pair of shoes
  • Posted something of vague use on here

The list probably goes on. I have however, helped redo the bathrooms in my house and made some caramel squares (which were very tasty). Such is life.

Question time: What gives you inspiration?

I’ve been going through a period of little inspiration yet again. Rather than ramble on about my lack of inspiration, I pose a question to my dear readers:

When you’re suffering from lack of inspiration (clothes & money) on the style front, what do you do to get re-inspired? What is it that sets your brain ticking once again and creating your attire?

I’m genuinely interested in knowing, no matter how bizarre it might be.

And she returns

For about the fifth time, I say hello hello. Back in the land of Bum (to normal people Birmingham). I think this photo is a good one to reflect my time in Devon:

Shells

Posting will resume again as usual from tomorrow (actually, tuesday because tomorrow I’m going to be having a panic due to the fact I have not got a dress for the bloody prom - it is not the most fun I could have)

Trip time

I’m going down to Devon to stay with my friend for a few days. I probably won’t be posting unless of course, I am allowed use of her computer. Anyhoo, I hope you all have a good rest of week if I don’t post until monday or something.

I also hope I don’t get bombed on the train… well, we are in high security alert… it is a bit of an” eeeeeeeppp!” moment.

Behind the scenes of the blog

Well, I’ve been making a number of small changes to the blog recently. I changed the layout (though one day I’ll actually put some effort into making the blog have a unique look, rather than the ones wordpress just provides), added some more widgets along the side (including some rss feeds from sites which actually know what they’re talking about!) as well as a few other things, which you may or may not have noticed.

There is also a new page - contribute - which is exactly what it says on the tin. I am looking forward to having some fresh ideas on the blog and a bit of reader contribution - which is more sparse than my posts may I please say (though I love you all dearly)!

So whilst my posts this week may have been lacking, I’ve been working like a busy bee behind the scenes. I do hope you enjoy these improvements (and if not, do not hestitate to make this known - within reason of course)

History is a mystery

I love learning about the past. History is a subject which really inspires me, though I hated taking history gcse because I’m terribly slow when it comes to writing essays (the time is just not enough - an extra 15 minutes was all I needed). Nevertheless, I still love learning about history because it is the foundation of the present day and I find it incredibly interesting.

For some of that time when I was meant to be ‘revising’, I actually started reading this book that I have on my shelf - “Fashion - The Century of the Designer“. I’d often glanced through it, but I’ve never actually sat down and read it. The history of fashion is something that I do not know much about, which is terribly sad because it is rather exciting. Unfortunately, I’ve yet to finish reading it because after reading up to the 1960s I thought it was best to start doing some revision otherwise I would actually fail (and I didn’t want that)

Fashion as we know it, is a fairly new concept. But all throughout history people have dressed in beautiful clothes. As I was browsing amazon uk for a link to the above book, I came across this book “Four Hundred Years of Fashion“. I can’t formulate an opinion as to whether it is good or not because I have not bought it, but it does look most interesting. I think I will indeed have to buy it to read.

Fashions past are the inspiration of many many collections. And there is no stopping people bringing past concepts into their own styling. I’ve always thought that incorporating different ideas is the way to go - no boundaries, no limits.

I’m back baby!

Oh yes! Exams are officially over much to my delight. Though I’ve found it rather an odd feeling not having to do any work.

Anyway, blogging will be returning to normal soon enough. With my random observations and ramblings on fashion and fashion-related topics.

Over and out for now!

#1

I was going to wait to post this, but I figured I may as well share rather than leaving it lurking about. More posts after 15th June!

Inspiration:

Result:

(taken on 21st May 2007 - I said that fashion never stops)

I said I’ve been wanting to try out fashion photography and since I know nobody who would be willing to be a model, I thought diy it (quite literally). So here is my first attempt and hopefully at some point, I shall meet someone willing to model for my next, so that it can venture into the realm of clothing rather than just heads.

Taking a short nap

My apologies for having not updated for a while. This is just a quick post to say that I probably won’t be updating again until about mid-June because of revision, exams etc. Fashion never stops though, so I’m sure there will be many posts to come soon after that. You can of course have a browse of some of the links listed along the side or even delve into the past archives for the time being.

Quick note

Just a quick note to say that I know I haven’t updated for a while and I’ll try my best to update at the weekend. I’ve got my art exam coming up on thursday & friday, so I’ve been busy trying to get all my prep work done in time. Anyway, I will update later on in the week if I can.

P.S. I’m having a bit of a sort out of all the links, so if anyone would like to swap links (have theirs added to the list and send a link coming this way) then please let me know through the power of commenting.

Hoot hoot

Is it just me or do owls seem to be somewhat of a craze lately? I’m sure I’ve literally been surrounded by owl things lately. I mean there was that owl bag in topshop a while back (which I was contemplating buying, then though pah, I can make that) and then there were some pants (knickers/underwear not trousers) I saw yesterday. Then last friday we went to a science lecture with school. The only talks which were vaguely okay was one where a man was talking about birds of prey and another one where a man was talking about chemistry (he was quite amusing). Needless to say the man had an owl (quite a cute one may I add) - it just seems to be something going around.

Get the thrift on

Sometimes I forget the sheer wonder of charity shopping - then I remember.
(Note to self: Have a charity shopping spree rather than complaining about lack of money.)

The only thing with charity shopping,  is that loads of other people are doing the same thing because of their desire to be ‘different’, - resulting in a) nothing good left for you and b) everyone actually having a similar style. The world works in strange ways.
